Time of Faith and Healing

Today the world boasts of AI -artificial intelligence, most sophisticated weaponry ever imagined, super power and dominance. All these to prove that a country is greater than the other. For some they used it to defend themselves from invasion of any kind and yet others to invade, occupy and destroy. Just when we thought we have the world in our hands and can bring other nations to their knees…then in a whisk , like waking up to a nightmare, we are faced with an invisible and invincible enemy that brought all our boasting to shame! Yes , Covid-19 shocked us and caught us off guard…. There were many theories surrounding the origin of this virus, whether they are true or not, still we are not prepared for the disaster it had all cost us. Lives had perished, economies of nations had been challenged, our self-claimed power was put to the test and failed. Months after the first outbreak, we are still grappling not with the cures for we are still in the dark. We just want to save what we can, we are trying to survive. This somehow reminds us of the story of the Tower of Babel. “  The whole world had the same language and the same words. When they were migrating from the east, they came to a valley in the land of Shinar and settled there. They said to one another, “Come, let us mold bricks and harden them with fire.” They used bricks for stone, and bitumen for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the sky, and so make a name for ourselves; otherwise we shall be scattered all over the earth.”  The LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the people had built. Then the LORD said: If now, while they are one people and all have the same language, they have started to do this, nothing they presume to do will be out of their reach.”(Genesis 11:1-6)

This moment in history is a time to ask ourselves, where do we put our faith on? What do I believe? Who? What is important to me?  Yes. This is the time where we set our priorities, see where our heart is.

May we give ourselves quiet moments to reflect on these things. When we are sure where our heart is, then there will be no fear. Fear sets in when we are not sure, when we are in doubt and when we are confused.  Let the words from the Gospel of John console us… “Do not let your hearts be troubled, have faith in God and have faith in Me..”

Be safe…God is watching over us, loving us…
